My Story

My name is Laide Ashiofu, a certified laboratory scientist by day and now, a debut author. I have had the privilege of teaching and working with children in Sunday School for over 15 years, and I have seen the impact that understanding redeeming truth has had on them. I have three school-aged children whom I have the honor of raising alongside my husband of 14 years.

I started teaching children voluntarily because there was a vacancy in my local church’s children’s department, but very soon what I thought would be a short-lived experience blossomed into a love for teaching and captivating young hearts through the pages of scripture.

I started writing to fill a gap that I continued seeing in the average Bible storybook. Most books are written from a narrator’s perspective and often lack the details that provoke empathy and reflection in the youngest readers. My approach to writing these stories from a multi-dimensional perspective is done in order to engage the reader and provide an opportunity for them to see and reason from the first-person point of view.

The Crowd and the King series is a collection of timeless and thought-provoking retellings of Bible stories for children and those who love them. My vision is to create multi-dimensional accounts of Bible stories that will invoke deeper depths of insight and understanding for the reader while building the capacity to read beyond the words and grasp the spirit of the message.

I am excited that the first book of our series is finally hitting the shelves.

Writing has quickly become one of my favorite past times. When I’m not writing you can find me discovering new workouts, attempting to learn how to sew, and working on my sketching abilities.
